Rocky Creek: Home of the JRSM

Rocky Creek is located near the small town of Free Union and is a tributary of the larger James River Watershed. The sight itself flows through private land protected via conservation easement. It is in a fairly remote and undeveloped area which is surrounded by secondary forest and dense undergrowth. The banks are stable and erosion is minimal. Rocky Creek itself is a fairly thin creek measuring no more than eight meters across at its widest point. In the area we tested, there are two different log jams which have created large pools of water both upstream and downstream of the logs.
